TapeAway hire terms
Rental Agreement
This draft sets out the practical rules for hiring a TapeAway camcorder kit in the UK: what we send, how you look after it, and how it gets back safely.
1. Who this agreement is between
This Rental Agreement is between Tapeaway Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17215320, trading as TapeAway (we, us or our), and the person placing the booking (you or your). By hiring a TapeAway kit, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that the details you provide are accurate.
The agreement covers the hire of our camcorder kit for your selected event date, together with delivery, return and editing services where included in your package.
2. What is included in the hire
Your kit may include a 4K UHD Camcorder, directional microphone, batteries, charger, memory card, guest prompt cards, filming guide, return packaging and any accessories listed in your booking confirmation.
The equipment remains the property of TapeAway at all times. You must not sell it, lend it to another event, sub-hire it or alter it beyond ordinary use.
3. Hire period and return
We aim to deliver your kit in good time before the event. You agree to return it using the supplied packaging and return label by the return date shown in your booking details, usually the next working day after your event unless we agree otherwise.
Late returns can affect another customer’s event. If the kit is returned late, we may charge a £25 fee for every day it is late, plus any direct costs caused by the delay, so the cameras are ready for the next guests.
4. Looking after the kit
You are responsible for taking reasonable care of the kit from delivery until it is accepted by the return carrier. Please keep it dry, secure and away from extreme heat, sand, liquid, smoke machines and any situation likely to damage electronic equipment.
Only use the kit for lawful, private event filming. You are responsible for making sure guests and venues are comfortable with filming where appropriate.
5. Loss, theft or damage
Please tell us as soon as possible if anything is lost, stolen, damaged or not working. Do not attempt repairs yourself.
You may be responsible for reasonable repair or replacement costs where the kit is lost, stolen, returned incomplete or damaged beyond fair wear and tear. We will provide evidence of any charge and will not charge more than the reasonable cost to repair or replace the affected item.
6. Footage and editing
You are responsible for what is filmed during the hire period. We cannot guarantee that particular people, moments or speeches will be captured, because the camera is operated by you and your guests.
By returning footage to us, you give TapeAway permission to store, transfer, view and edit the footage so we can provide the services in your package. You retain rights in your personal footage, and we will not use it publicly for marketing without your permission.
7. Payment authority
You agree that we may take payment for your chosen package and, where clearly notified, a refundable deposit or payment authorisation. Any deposit is returned after the kit has been checked, less any agreed late, repair or replacement charges.
8. Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere in the UK.
